Daria Samoilova is a Ukrainian-born artist who moved to Switzerland due to the full-scale russian invasion. She works across painting, photography, writing, and installation.
Her approach to visual arts is increasingly shaped by linguistic structures, particularly how language shapes our perception, the influence and value of cognitive metaphor, as well as the birth and shifting of meaning. Ultimately, pattern recognition and analysis of the structures that create these patterns, along with their qualities, lie at the core of Samoilova's approach.
Convinced that hypersensitivity is not a curse, she seeks to convey multi-layered emotional experiences and explore liminality through visual ambiguity. While working, she draws parallels between psychology, mystical symbolism, and semiotics—all oriented toward understanding and deconstructing human experience and the psychic landscape in which it appears.
